Saudi Arabia is preparing for a period of rainfall starting from Saturday, through Tuesday prompting the General Directorate and Meteorological Authority to issue warnings and safety guidelines for residents and citizens.
The upcoming weather conditions are expected to bring moderate to rain along with thunderstorms and hail impacting regions across the kingdom.
Mecca and its neighboring areas like Taif, Maysan, Adham, Ranyah and Al Muwayh are likely to experience the weather. Meanwhile Riyadh, Wadi Al Dawasir and Al Sulayil can expect rainfall. Light showers are forecasted for the eastern borders of Saudi Arabia.
The Meteorological Authority has also emphasized the potential for winds that may stir up dust in affected areas adding to the challenges. As a measure the General Directorate of Civil Defence is advising the public to seek shelter in locations avoid valleys and flooded areas and follow safety instructions communicated through various media platforms.
Regarding conditions the Red Sea will encounter northwesterly to surface winds with wave heights ranging from one to one and a half meters in most parts and up to two meters, in central and southern regions.
The Gulf area is expected to have winds coming from the southeast or southwest changing to the north or northeast, in the evening reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. Places such as Jizan, Najran, Asir and Al Baha will also see moderate to rainfall with Jizan and Asir experiencing heavy rain and strong winds. Some areas, like Hail, Qassim and other regions will have moderate intensity rainfall compared to the affected areas.
